As you can tell by the title of this blog post, my sister, Kendall, is engaged to the wonderful, Jeremy Morgan! We're so excited to welcome him into the crazy Neumann family. The happy couple got engaged on Saturday, May 28th while they were visiting Dan and I in Costa Rica! I'm so grateful to have been apart of their special day. Additionally, today, June 27th, is Kendall's 24th birthday! In honor of this, I'm going to be recapping our time with them in Costa Rica.
The trip began on Saturday, May 28th. Dan and I took the 5:30 am bus down from Monteverde to San Jose. Kendall and Jeremy's flight wan't getting in until the afternoon so we headed over to Denny's for a nice breakfast and then the City Mall for some shopping and games. Once they landed, we took a taxi over to the airport and waited for the two of them to get through immigration and customs! Our shuttle picked us up from the airport soon after and we were headed for La Fortuna!
The drive from the airport in Alajuela to La Fortuna is about three hours. Along the way, we stopped at a restaurant for some lunch and ordered way more than we needed. It was delicious!
Upon arrival, we were given tickets for welcome drinks. We got changed and then went down to enjoy the beautiful, heated pool with a swim up bar. Upon arrival, we were given tickets for welcome drinks. It had been a long day at this point so Kendall and Jeremy decided to head up to the room to change into pajamas and I waited with Dan while he finished his drink. Little did we know that something very special was happening as Jeremy proposed to Kendall!!! We joined them upstairs and were so excited to hear the news! Dan and I went out for some champagne and the four of us had a chill night in celebrating the happy couple!
The following day started with breakfast at the Lava Lounge. Next, we took a taxi to the stunning Arenal Waterfall and spent a couple hours swimming and basking in the beauty of the falls.
The rest of the day was spent at Baldi Hot Springs. Baldi is our favorite hot springs in La Fortuna. We had a lovely and relaxing day enjoying the warm, medicinal water with the swim up bars and the insanely fast water slides.
On Monday, May 30th, we started our second leg of the trip as we headed for Monteverde.
Dan and I were so excited to show Kendall and Jeremy our home for the past year. Kendall and Jeremy met our baby, Nala.
We visited our school and gave them a tour of the beautiful, extensive campus.
On Tuesday, May 31st, we went to our favorite zip lining park, Extremo! This was me and Dan's fourth or fifth time there. The tour started off lovely with sunshine and ended early with a huge thunder storm. We were on platforms when it started to lightning but thankfully, our whole group made it back safely. It was a little scary but we made the most of it and had a blast!
After we got out of our wet, cold clothes and took warm showers, we met up with some of our friends from Monteverde.
On Wednesday, Dan and I stayed back home to catch up on sleep and do some much needed work while Kendall and Jeremy went to the El Tigre Waterfalls. Dan and I had visited a few weeks prior and all of us agreed that it is truly an amazing place. You can read my blog post on it here.
The following day, we took the 5:30 am bus down to Puntarenas and then over to Jaco! It was time for the beach. We went up to El Miro, went surfing, and ate at our very favorite restaurant- Hola India! This was Kendall's second time in Jaco so she was excited to show Jeremy around as well.
On Friday, June 3rd, we had a relaxing morning by the pool before heading out on an ATV tour! This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip- look out for a video soon!
We went back to Hola India for dinner because it's the freaking best and life's short. Then, we made our way a little farther south to Esterillos Oeste. The coastal town that Dan and I lived in for three months last year. We stayed at our friends' Chris and Edel's beautiful AirBnB. The last couple days were spent by their pool and on the beach, boogie boarding and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Kendall and Jeremy made their way to the airport on Sunday, June 5th while Dan and I made our way back to Monteverde for our final days in Costa Rica. Overall, our trip was epic and I'm so grateful to Kendall and Jeremy for visiting us and for letting us be apart of their engagement.
