New York Summer 2024 Trip

Dan and I left on the evening of Thursday, June 27th for a short trip to New York! For those who don't know, Dan is from Long Island and we often go visit his family and friends. We had a red eye flight leaving Reno at midnight but it ended up getting delayed so we left closer to 1:30 am. We had a short one hour layover at O'Hare before our final flight to New York. It was so strange being at O'Hare but not being able to go see my family!

Landing at O'Hare!

Made it to LaGuardia!

Dan's dad picked us up from the airport and we headed straight home to get ready for a wedding we had that afternoon! By the time we made it home, we had about 30 minutes to get ready for the wedding and eat something before heading to the church! It was a crazy turnaround but we made it in time. Dan's friend, Johnny and his now wife, Kayla, were the ones getting married!

The wedding party left on a trolley which I thought was so cute! We ended up hanging out at the hotel bar before catching a ride to the venue.

The rest of the night was so much fun! The food was absolutely delicious and I had such a great time. Congratulations to the Roselli's!

On Saturday morning, we slept in after getting no sleep due to the Red Eye on Thursday night and then staying up late for the wedding on Friday night. Dan's dad, Dan is an author and has written multiple books! We went to his book fair at a local university on Long Island. I will link his Amazon here and his website here. You should definitely check him out!

After the book fair, we hung out with Dan's parents and his sister, Joanne, her husband, Nick, who came into town from the city! I was so excited to see them and catch up as it's been quite a while. Later on, Dan went over to his friend, Ryan's house and then ended up going out to a local spot for drinks and to watch the UFC fights that were on that night. It was a great time and another late night!

On Sunday, we had Dan's cousin's baby's baptism! We spent the day at the church and then at an after party. It was so much fun seeing all of his family and visiting with them! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures on this day to share.

On Monday, July 1st, we went over to Tobay Beach which is very close to Jones Beach on Ocean Parkway. Dan and I went with his mom and had a beautiful time! The weather was absolutely perfect and it was so nice to spend quality time with Dan's mom, Mary. Afterwards, we went back to the house and got ready for a movie! We headed to see A Quiet Place: Day One with Dan's dad. The three of us saw A Quiet Place II together two years ago so it was extra special to go watch this one in theaters together. It was an awesome movie and my favorite character was the cat, Frodo.

Tuesday, July 2nd was our last day in New York. We started it by playing basketball and pickleball at the local park with Dan's dad and two of his friends. It was a hot one but we had a lot of fun! Dan's dad kicked our butt in pickleball.

Afterwards, we went out for brunch at Brownstone's and it was DELICIOUS! The food was so good and I'm already looking forward to the next time we eat there. We said our goodbyes and headed for the airport around 3pm.

We had another layover in Chicago on the way back to Reno. Of course, we had to get some Chicago style pizza at the airport during our hour layover! The second flight went by fairly fast and before we knew it we were home!

Nala was so happy to see us and we were even happier to see her! Overall, it was a beautiful trip and I'm so grateful for the time I had with Dan's family and friends. It's hard living far from our homes but the time we get to spend there is always extra special.
